Motor Mount Heat Shield? New Format on CO??

Picked up this piece at the Tri-State Swap Meet today....I see the Parts Place sells it and they say...."THIS IS A FACTORY PART THAT GM USED TO KEEP THE HEAT OFF THE MOTOR MOUNTS" Question is I haven't seen one of these installed on an Olds engine. Anyone have it on their car? What side does it go on or do you need one on each side? hmmmm I don't have a manage attachments button so the link hopefully works.

Yeah, these are common, though I can't say which cars did or did not have them.

I have one on the pass. side of my 77. Looks different than the one pictured. Maybe it should have one on the driver too. Better check my CSM.

So I checked my CSM. No mention of any heat shields for the motor mounts. Or a least I didn't find anything.
My mount were only on the car for 600 miles. When I pulled the motor driver side rubber was cracked badly. The new ones from anchor were slightly different. They were less beefy at the bolt holes. I did some part number checking and deduced Anchor # was correct for a SBO and I had put on BBO 600 miles ago.
Now I am thinking a missing heat shield might have caused the premature deterioration.
Does someone know if there should be one? I don't have a parts manual to check for a listing.
As always, thanks for helping
Mike
