One of the unwritten rules (these are the ones that separate decent people from jerks) is that you're not supposed to make 300% profit on something you are reselling. Even Jesus disapproved of these folks, and kicked them out of His Father's temple.
Dude bought car for a few grand, should have been selling it for a few grand more, not ten grand. What value did he add to the car? Resellers are nothing but parasites.

Those vehicles were uni-body design. They were built with a life expectancy of around 5-7 years due to the poor build quality.
This particular vehicle was badly rusted and most likely was so badly rotted that it could not be fixed without costing a fortune. So the guy was stuck with a rusted junk heap he couldn't sell and decided it best to just crush it. No harm no foul. That vehicle was terminal so the crusher was its fate. It's not like a rust free vehicle was crushed. It was a rust heap and it should probably have been crushed many years ago.
MOPAR = Mostly Old Parts And Rust
As they would say, "Mopars are great engines in search of a real body."

There are no unwritten rules in selling, since when is making a profit wrong? So what happens if a seller bought a car for a $1, your rule of thumb is a bit skewed. The issue is what the market will bear, 90% of items sell eventually at a price that a buyer finds value. This particular seller is a moron.
A real man would have restored it and then put it for sale for 40,000 or more and said “ see what you would have gotten with hard work and sweat”. Parted out he would get more than scrap but if you read comments it seems he spent 19 years in prison and talked to no one about this sale. Very sketchy individual.
I love the style of many of the Mopars and their powerful engines but when looking at them closely at car shows I can see that the GMs were much better built. Nor did they rust out as fast. Some of the Interior parts look extremely cheep on Mopars.
