Mondello?
Mondello?
I have seen a couple of negative comments towards mondello lately, just curious why. Has anybody had problems with them. I was considering buying some parts from them.
Thanks,Rob
Thanks,Rob
I have heard the same things. I have not bought any thing from them lately, but have bought lots of item years back. I had nothing but good things to say. They had things others did not have at the time, their tech line was helpfull for me. I have also stoped there, and they gave me,and my son a personel tour of the shop and business, was interesting. Are Olds club stopped there years ago, and Joe did a hole afternoon info class, and told us about his operation, and then he answered all the questions we wanted to ask, it was great.
I have never dealt with them but have seem a lot more negative comments than positive. Joe Mondello has not been there for several years apparently. From what I have read, I would not buy from them.
When the company was run by Joe himself it was probablt the first Olds vendor of its time, therefor he was able to control a lot of the in's and outs of manufacturing and such. He handed the reigns to his son in law (Lynn I think) and he drove the empire straight into the ground with ill fitting parts or NON fitting parts), horrible customer service and a crappy return policy not to mention the Californication high pricing...
Apparantly Joe himself is a straight shooter, and is still regarded as an Oldsmobile guru.... its just his poor business choice killed it for him.
But there are more choices and more vendors lately for Olds parts so shopping around is best. Here are a few links that I like.
www.usapartssupply.com
www.thepartsplaceinc.com
www.tamrazs.com
and for go fast stuff.
www.rocketracingperformance.com
then there are the builders..
Smitty at MJ Proformance or Jim at J&S machine. I've dealt with Jim on a set of heads and he is a nice guy to talk to and builds a very nice set of heads for reasonable cash. For Carb work, www.sparkyscarbs.com Those guys work MAGIC with Qjets. they build them to spank a Hollys ***...
Just my opinion from the peanut gallery.

ive never purchaesd anything from them.but i have a buddy that knows lynn so he buys everything from them.myself i chose to shop around for pushrods and ended up getting them from smith brothers in oregon.for 150 plus shipping and mondello wanted 209.99 for the same parts....it pays to price shop..good parts arent cheap..
The other Olds "Guru" is Dick Miller, surprised no one mentioned him up to this point. Contact him at Dick Miller Racing. Bought great parts from him for my engine build up. This guy takes time to talk to customers on the phone and is unbelieveably knowledgeable regarding Olds engines. Unlike Joe Mondello, Dick Miller still owns and runs his business, and is a great resource for Olds enthusiats.
