Million dollar question.

Pulling the body off my frame and planned on using my 2 post lift to do this. The question is has anyone ever done this and where did they place the lift pads to keep body stable and not bend any parts? Hoping to just lift the body up and roll out the chasis from underneath. Any help or pics would be appreciated.

Everybody with a two post lift removes the body by lifting under the rocker boxes (assuming that they are not rusted out). Note that this is also how GM held the body when it was dropped onto the frame on the assembly line. You may want to fabricate a couple of pieces of two-by lumber with a groove down the middle to straddle the pinchweld on the bottom of the rocker and help distribute the load.

That is how I did it. I picked it up and rolled out the chassis and rolled a temp chassis under it to roll the body around on.

Not look'in to cross swords, but I would not lift such a car by it's 1/4 Panels.

The rockers are a more stable erea to lift.

Hell, I thought the million dollar question was how fast is a raped ape? I know it's somewhere between normal car performance and fast drag cars, so I assume a raped ape can do a quarter mile from a standing start in about 12 seconds.

If I lifted by the rockers only it would have tipped backwards. I can lift the back of the body by myself so there was not much weight on them.

Thanks for the help and pics. Going to lift it this weekend. I will try to send some pics. I plan on having the body on the lift until the chasis is a completed. This may be awhile so I might put a couple ratchet straps on it just for safety.
