Might As Well ?
Hello all,
Going to replace motor mounts on the VC (330 engine). Planning on using engine hoist to lift it up a couple inches.
Exhaust system is off, carb off, radiator is out (for cleaning).
Looks like I have enough clearance with the kick down switch and distributor to raise the engine, but figured I ask if I'm missing something.
The oil pan gasket / seals should be replaced too.
So, my MAW is question; is there enough room to raise the engine (with trans attached) to drop the oil pan without hitting the firewall?
Thank you,
Ed

The stock pan will come out with the engine in the car. It’s a tight fit. I’d suggest reading the service manual, I’m pretty sure it’s outlined that you need to rotate the crank to a certain position to allow the pan to clear a counterweight. Id suggest removing the distributor cap as well.
Ok, thanks
I'll also look up the rubber rear main seal part number. I saw talk of it here not too long ago
MAW check the Timing Chain too. I'm pretty sure It hasn't been replaced. 97,000 miles on odometer.
