Thumbs up MIG Welder Gas Conversion

My wife bought me a Lincoln MIG PAK 100 welder for Christmas a few years ago. It is a 115 volt wire feed flux core unit.

I am a novice welder, and found it hard to make good, clean welds with the flux core wire.

I bought the Lincoln gas conversion kit, and installed it. Picked up a tank of C25 shielding gas at the local welding store.

The weld quality is 100X better. No spatter, nice beads, and great penetration.

Well worth doing if you plan to weld, and want good results.

I've got a little 110v Hobart that I used to do my whole car. I think I had to change the polarity when I changed it to gas from flux core.

I prefer the gas too. The welds are so much neater. But I weld so much for my own purposes that it's much cheaper for me to use the flux core wire. I go through a tank of argon in a few days. It ends up getting costly.
