Mecum 2021 auctions
Mecum 2021 auctions
Had a little time yesterday and sat down to watch previously recorded Mecum auto auction one from Kissimmee 2021 and and 1 from Glendale AZ 2021. interesting, some really nice vehicles. One thing nice about the Mecum auction vs others is they have a little something for everybody
beginning collectors to hard core collectors. They had some model Mercedes suv that went for $2000.00 up to a 1966 L-88Corvette that went for $2.65 million !! holy crap !!!
I only saw 1 Olds, a 1957 that hammered at $35k. I saw a few very nice Buick GS's and of course there were loads of Chevelle's , Camaro's and shoe box Chevy's and 69-74 Ford Bronco's remain hot fetching between 60-70k. seems to be a shortage of Oldsmobile's.

I've noticed over the years that neither BJ or Mecum show many Olds going across the floor, even though if you check their lists there's always a few for sale at the auction. Unless it is very special, or some celeb donated the thing, you rarely see them cross.
What I really hate is when I know an Olds is coming up and you wait, and you wait, and then you see it is finally the next one coming up for bid...that's when the announcer pipes up "And now we're going to take a short break for commercial". By the time they come back, it's gone.

If you want to see everything, watch Mecum's feed at their website. No commercials, no commentary, just the auctioneer's patter and whatever other things are said by someone at the podium. It's just like sitting in the audience. You can also find the lot number of any car going up for sale at a particular auction and then figure out roughly when it will cross the block if there's a car that you're particularly interested in seeing the bidding action on.
I've noticed this, too, and I think it's simply because they have to take a commercial break somewhere, so might as well do it when one of the less popular makes comes across the block. You'd never see them do that to a mid-year Corvette, a Chevelle, or an early Mustang.
