Measuring rim size
I have a set of 4 ssII? (see attatched picture) i measured the rims outside to outside at 15 in. and width outside to outside at 8 in. Can somebody confirm whether these are ssII or ssIII's and am i measuring these correctly?

Look like SSIII's to me (because they are not gray). There should be stamping on the inside as to the size. My SSII's have stamped on the inside "15 X 7 Made In Canada" although my 442 was built in Lansing.
Here are 15x7 SSII's with snap on centre - original factory colour...never painted.

You measure rims on the inside where the tire sits, not outside to outside. It's usually about an inch bigger than the wheel size if you do measure to the outside.
They're 14x7's if you measured them that way, the size is stamped on the inside of the wheel like 442much said too.
The only difference between SSII and SSIII wheels are that the SSII's are painted a silver-argent color and SSIII's are painted the car's lower body color.

Keep in mind that the 14" or 15" dimension specified on tires is the diameter of the hole in the tire. The wheel lip goes past that hole so the tire's bead is properly retained on the wheel. That's why a 14" wheel measures 15". It's similar with the width. The specified width dimension is to the surfaces where the tire's bead sits. Wheels have a slight flare at the outside, thus a 7" wheel will measure about 8" if you measure outside to outside.
