Mcacn

Once again the MCACN show is over. For those who could not attend you really missed a special show, especially for Oldsmobile enthusiasts. There were a lot of Oldsmobile's. There was a 1966-67 W-30 display that featured 30 cars. There will not be another gathering like that any time soon or ever. I pretty much made a pest of myself telling the owners that my Birthday was coming up, I had to try! Miller Auto Care Had two Astounding restorations on the barn finds that they had at the 2019 show. There was also a 1969 H/O that was restored by 442 Fred that was done in all Lacquer Paint including The real deal 52 year old Demmer Fire Frost Gold Paint, the car is flawless. Oldsmobile's were everywhere . A real treat for me. It was a lot of fun working the show, I got to meet a lot of very good people. I hope others who attended the show will also chime in on their experiences. Guy

I'm pretty sure that was Ron Memmer's '69 H/O.

The Oldsmobile scene was strong this year. So was Buick's, though mainly 1970. The 1966-67 W30 display was stupendous.

That w-27 looks like a modern differential in its aluminum case, very ahead of its time.

Question about the Holiday Olds car: what is the significance of the 67 grill underneath? I understand it was probably campaigned across 2 model years, but the hood and bumper are missing?
I didn't realize there were multiple Brainbeau cars

The short answer is it was damaged in a towing accident and was converted to a 67 when repaired. It was converted back to it's current form.

Yes,there were a 66 & 67 Brainbeau race cars. It went to Berejik in I believe 68.

Can anyone explain the wide variety of side stripes on the 1967's at the show...some were narrow some were wider they all seemed to stop and come together at a different location....which style is correct? I was also surprised to not see UHV ignition set ups....were they that unpopular/unreliable when first produced.

There were at least two cars there with UHV. Yes they were unreliable and prone to failure. The CSM called for the entire main control unit to be serviced as a unit and the old one returned to the factory. Remember it was the predecessor of the HEI. An HEI chip can be installed in a vintage UHV control box.
