I often find myself thinking about how lucky I am to own a numbers matching '72 U code Supreme. When I purchased it, I had no idea what I had. All I knew at the time was that it was a 455, and the price was right. Only after some research (and some help from members here on the forum), did I realize what the numbers actually meant. I kept asking myself "What are the odds?" From that day on, I was on a quest to find my build sheet.
Fast forward 2-1/2 years, and again, just by chance, I found it tucked under the driver seat. Again, what were the odds? All those years that went by, (including an interior refresh in the mid 90s), and the build sheet remained. At any time, it could have been removed and either tossed or lost in some previous owner's archives. But that didn't happen, and I was the one who finally discovered it. To say I was ecstatic would be an understatement!
So, I guess you could say I scored a "hat trick," and I truly appreciate how lucky I am and committed to preserve this rare piece of Oldsmobile history.
