Lots of questions about my '68 88
First off I hit the wrong number on my name, I have a 1968 delta with the 455, cause i know its going to look weird if a guy with a 69 is asking about a 68 lol.
Ok, first question: Is there a difference between a delta 88 custom and a delta custom?
second question: I haven't seen many 68's with the vinyl top or two door, is this a rare model year, and are the parts rare or pretty much availiable?
Most of the smaller things like the engine size I already know as the air cleaner says 455 rocket, and if it has a 2 or 4 barrel carb will tell you how many horse the engine puts out. I know that the it has the 4 barrel that it was an upgrade and has 395hp but if it has the 2 barrel it was the stock 310hp.
The car was given to a neighbor for doing some for my uncle about 4 years ago, and the guy drove it to his house after sitting for at least 15 years and there it sat. The reason for it sitting was there was a knock in the engine. I know that these engines were built to use different fuels for the different models so could this knock be due to the wrong gas being used? The guy who has it now said he never noticed a knock and he would let it run for about an hour a week.
Also I read that these cars had front disk breaks on some models, and I believe that the 88 was one that had front disk. Am I right on that or have I read to much and I am mixing things up?
I know I could just go look at the car, but it's still at the neighbors house and I really don't wanna start poking around on the car and then he deside he wants to keep it lol.
Any how thats all I got for right now, and I hope to get the car really soon. I'm one of those guys that always had newer imports so I never had to work on a real car, and I know that this is a long term project. I'm not looking to make it stock but I'm also not gonna make its custom just somewhere in between.
Thanks for you help in advance

The car is not rare with a vinyl top or 2 door, it was just an option. Sheet metal parts and trim are the hardest to find as they are not made anymore.
Mechanical parts are no problem.
HP numbers change with 2 or 4bbl carbs but highest rated HP for that car would be a factory 4bbl and dual exhaust which would be rare.
A knock is usually serious but a tap usually is not. Neither caused by gas unless it was a pre-ignition ping or rattle and that can be caused by low octane gas.
All did not have disc brakes.... That was optional.
The Delta 88 Custom is the same car as a Delta Custom.....

One thing I can't find are any pictures of the same year and style that I have. They are either 4 door's or convertable, I have found a few videos and a website of one but thats it.
