Looking For License Plate Restoration Company
Can anyone recommend a company that restores license plates? I want to make this look new again. I thought it was pretty cool with the "442" on the end.. The "3" stands for which county in Florida the car was registered. "3" was Pinellas County (third largest county in Fla. back in 1972)... It just so happens the car was shipped from Arlington, Texas to Pinellas County, Florida (Lokey Oldsmobile) .

From reading up on this, in Florida it seems like if the plate has been tampered with at all (repaint, restored, etc...) it is NOT eligible to be reused... you have to physically ship the plate to Tallahassle and get a yay or nay from them! Very BIZARRE!

Yes, I already sent the tag to Tallahassee it was approved. You are correct if it was tampered with at all they will not approve it. However, it's a done deal.. I already have my registration, so now it's just a matter of making it look brand-new again. I will not have to go through the process again..

I had this guy do the original plates for my 66 442, I did the original frames with some steel wool and model car paint. www.finishyourplates.com and to add to kitfoxdave's weirdness, in this state, you can get cited for doing what I did to the plate, it's considered tampering, even though it looks better than new now.

I used these guys for my plates:

When I got the plates back, I was like "HOLY WOWZA". The originals had a chunk missing at the bottom, were all dinged up, and they look like new now. Very recommended.
