looking for carburetor rebuild advise

I have a 1967 Toro with the Rochester 70271131 carb. After having it rebuilt, it is still leaking fuel and the rebuilder suggested that the body must be cracked - needs to be replaced. Wished I would have known that before it was rebuilt!

I recently purchased a NOS factory service replacement quadrajet. It is marked as follows:
CARB BODY IS #7035530, AIRHORN # 7032741, AND THROTTLE PLATE CARRIES #7034923. STAMPED ID ON THROTTLE SIDE IS 4447S AND IS CARTER SERVICE REPLACEMENT PART NUMBER. IN ADDITION #33679 IS STAMPED ON BOTTOM OF THROTTLE PLATE BETWEEN PRIMARY BUTTERFLIES. DATE CODE IS C0 WHICH WOULD INDICATE MARCH OF 1970.

So here is my question. Would I be able to use this carburetor to "create" a 7027131 by replacing the main jets, primary rods, and secondary rods using the correct parts for a 7027131?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

All parts should be swappable. There's some generational differences over the years.

There are two good Qjet books that outline issues with them. One such is the plugs at the bottom of the bowl which may need to be sealed with epoxy. IIRC Doug Roe wrote one of them.

Cliff Rugges was the author of the other QJ book.
