Is it really asking too much to include your location when you are buying, selling or looking for cars and/or parts? Would you really think it's not relevant that I'm in Miami and you're in Seattle?

It is important to know before you tell (**** off) the wife. You wouldn't want to do it for no reason.

If someone is concerned about being tracked down they can do it the way you did Kevin. Your "near" a big city that most will recognize but are not giving out your street address!

Even a zip code would be helpful. Of course, then there are the clowns who have to stick their thumb out to block the license plate when taking a photo of their car - while it's parked on a PUBLIC STREET! Does someone need to run behind the car with their thumb out when the car is driven? And I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me exactly what scam they are trying to prevent.

I agree with you guys 100%. I always get a kick out of the guys that cover the license plate on cars that are driven on the street.

In case you don't know there are dirty cops. There are car theives that have a dirty cop in their back pocket that can run the tag and tell said low life where that car is garaged/arked.
I had a vehicle jacked this way. The thug got caught red handed while looking down the business end of a coreless hole puncher. and sang like a bird once cuffed and stuffed.

And how does covering the plate in a photo that's taken while the car is parked on a public street outside your house going to stop that?

It isn't in the photo.
Many search for targets online. not cruising around looking for the "orderd" car to jack.
Many of these groups have a customer list of vehicles they want or need parts from. They search for what they are after online.
Covering plate makes it harder, turning off the camera/phone's meta data while taking photo also helps. so the photo doesn't list the location.
The days of them driving around hunting for what their "customers" are after are over. They use the internet and events/shows to find what they are after.
Then goto where it is parked later and jack it. That way they can have the container or garage to suff it in already lined up.
