Good luck on the sale Lee.
So far it looks like just tire kickers. Wonder how many will actually look at the additional photos link..
For a second when I read the ad, it sounded like after 35 years you were selling your wife. LOL Don't know why it came across like that, must be getting dyslexic or reading too fast.

She would be hard to sell on ebay. I think it is illegal and after 35 years of marriage I don't want to replace her. She is the only person in the world that will put up with me. Lee

Ok that is the best offer I have had so far. I will keep you informed of the status as the auction progresses. She would have to move to Balboa Island, CA, another downside of the deal. The ocean moisture would make her hair frizz. Just want to be upfront, the car is as presented.

Christ Lee, youre making this difficult, She hates it when her hair is unmanageable. She also is scared of water so is the island a name or really an island? This could be a deal breaker my friend. Would you consider given the circumstances throwing in some boot?
Seriously, I wanted to thank you for sharing pics and stories of your car. It is a special piece of Olds history. Good luck with the sale.

Hello Lee,
I'm happy to hear there were some positive responses. I know you don't know me but I have to say stick to your guns and please don't let the 'ole girl go just to get it over with. If you're not pleased w/ the offer(s) or 100% sure the market is truely tested, then stand your ground and give it another run in the spring.
If circumstances warrant you letting it go asap that's another issue all together but remember unless you are 100% certain the sale is right for all involved (including the car) then you will never be happy with the results and you may end up regretting it for a long time.
Best of luck to you and though I cannot afford your car I hope you get what you need to feel good and let go of her.

Jersey Mike: That was a very nice comment. When I sell the car I will have money but no longer one of the most special oldsmobile muscle cars. So I totally agree with you. I had a half a dozen dealers and flippers all over the car in the auction in the mid to high 100ks. So if I have to sell it I think there will always be some kind of market. Lee

Hey Lee, I had your car on my watch list to see what the eBayers thought. I don't think that the final bid was a good indication of that car's real worth. Like you said, flippers and dealers were wanting it so they could try to make a buck or two. I don't have a problem with buying and selling to make a profit, but a car as special as yours belongs in a sale situation that is geared toward the end user being involved. I can see that car in a significant collection, museum, or even in the General Motors group of specialty cars. While $221K is not chump change, I don't think it is reflective of the true valuation of what is arguably the pinnacle of Oldsmoble muscle. More often than not, a car of that caliber will change hands privately and only the seller and buyer will know the exact sale price.

Hi Dave: This is why I love this CO site. I have met many great people, they have been helpful in my restoration and they don't have big egos either. That said I have been very public in my ownership, restoration and showing of my car. It is just a car and I was lucky the original owner ordered it really well. Since we are all regular guys I have been able to be very open and feel comfortable communicating with the CO group. My wife and I would like to see this car in a place where it can be seen by the public to represent Oldsmobile. That would be my ultimate satisfaction and completion of our time with our car. So several weeks ago we sent emails to some of the car museums. Not one response! I put the car on ebay against the advise of many of my friends. The fact that it received 7500 views and had 400 watchers and it had a reasonable showing I feel was another important part of getting the word out that the car is on the market. Good or bad it will sell in the next six months and I will hopefully get it to a caretaker like me that will love the car and appreciate it. Lee

Lee, again if you want me to contact the auction we talked about before, just say the word. I will be glad to make the introduction. I'm supposed to see some of the family this coming Saturday as they are coming in from CA to attend Hershey. Weather permitting, we plan to spend the day together. Their auctions are held three times a year---Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, and Scottsdale. They also offer a brokerage option that might be something to consider.
