I made it to this cruise night and yes, Rob was there. This was the first time I was able to meet Rob in person - and his car. He is as enthusiastic and articulate in person as he is online. And his Cutlass looks as nice and detailed in person as it does in his recent "into the unknown" build project. I still cannot believe he did all that work to such a high level of detail in such a small garage and in such brutal summer heat. A big pat on the back for a great job.
As is usually the case at these cruise nights, there was a total of 3 Oldsmobiles out of about 60 cars - Rob and his '72 Cutlass convertible, me in my '70 cutlass SX and a new friend we met there named Luke with his '72 442 4-spd that he's had for 20 years. Rob did his best to get Luke to join us on CO so we'll see if he shows up.
Sorry I did not take pictures but Rob did...I'm sure he'll post up soon.

Okay you two, don't start trying to get me to blush, now............
Kevin, great to meet you! It is cool when I can put faces with user IDs.
I apoligize for disappearing without saying goodbye, but Alice and I had to get something to eat. I was also unaware that you did not register for judging... Hope to see you at the next show!
Hopefully Luke will join up soon - he has a potent motor under that hood and would like to hear more about it...
So pictures! Here they are, Olds first of course!
Here is Luke's 442 - I put it first, in case he joins and stumbles on to this thread...

Here is Kevin's SX...

And here is that white 'vert that looks so familiar to me......

My favorite non-Olds - a 31 Model A. Interior was GORGEOUS and ELEGANT!!

This one won for pre-50's class - and should have!
My next favorite 'vert - a 56 T-bird!

This one won for convertible class...

And some more...

THIS one should have won the "most creative" or something like that...
The one and only Corpse De'Ville!

Appropriate for this time in the year, this thing had people swarming around it like managers to a meeting room...

What you cannot see are the countless glowing eyes, accent lights, spooky music (playing on a nice sounding audio system), and the movements of most of the statues!
Nice assortment of parts here... Hope he can get them back together again.

I bet this guy drives better than the drunks and phone fiddlers...

In all, it was a fun show, despite not one I prefer for judging in. It was nice to meet members from here and other Olds enthusiasts. There were a nice assortment of cars - survivors, restos, trailer queens and daily drivers. Of course also the majority of 2000's Mustangs, Vettes, and Camaros, which were awarded most of the trophies (some two each!) just because they had TVs, flashing LEDs, rubber band tires and all that stuff. Ridiculous...
It got a bit chilly during the evening hours, but better than sweating like crazy during the summer. Looking forward to more shows next season, as hopefully by then, Lady will be DONE!!

Very nice pic's. Rob, you are doing such a nice job on everything that you are doing to your car. However, you really need to do something with the 442 emblems as far as positioning them. Every pic I see of your car looks great other than those on the fenders. JMO
Welding would plug 'em, BUT - that means sanding and repainting. Repainting opens a can of worms the size of a grain silo...
That is well beyond my abilities anyway.
I've got some white chewing gum here. Hmmm.............

mobile welding service???? Hmmm, that has a nice ring to it and opens up a whole new can of worms.....Wanna box in some rear lower control arms?? You'd only have to be mobile about 1600 miles
. If it's any consolation I have a bigger garage than Rob and I promise to put the car up higher than he did. Plus you wouldnt have to put up with any of that durn Texas heat.....

...and clear you through customs
. Just don't wear that mask at the border; and TRY to act friendly to the guard?? Remember our speed limit in Canada is metric, so when you see the posted speed limit of 100 or 110..well, you're on your own for anything that comes out of that
Seriously, one of these years I was hoping to make a trip down through the US and make several pit stops in various states to say Hi to all the great folks I've got to know through this site. I'm hoping the Mrs. will also want to come along; she's great company on a long trip.....just sits there quietly in the passenger seat and reads her books

. As long as I don't forget to feed her at a nice restaurant every 4 or 5 hours, she travels very well.
. She LOVES warm temps too.....
