Does anyone know the number of Oldsmobile dealerships in Lansing ,Mi. in the 60s to early 70s? Which one did the greatest volume?

Two that come to mind are Story and University. I think Story did the most business- they had enough pull to get 15 extra 68 H/Os made.

Bought my new 1972 Cutlass Supreme from Starnaman Olds on the west side of Lansing. They were a fairly new dealership.

Thanks for the quick response. Have you ever heard of Andres Oldsmobile on Saginaw Highway or Lansing Oldsmobile on Capitol Avenue?

My memory is a little foggy, but I believe Andres took over that location from Starnaman for a short time. Then I believe it was Regency Olds, then Crippen Olds.
Story Olds started on Capitol Ave then moved to E. Michigan Ave

Rod has it right, Starnaman, Andres, Regency and then Crippen. Dad got his company car through Regency. I bought/leased Bravada, Alero, Envoy and Grand Prix from Crippen.

Starnaman and Andres were actually Grand Ledge address and sometime when it was Regency it was annexed into a Lansing address.

Story was the highest volume dealer in the US. But they were only 2-3 miles from the main plant.

I believe it was the same family. Karl Story listed a dealer principal at University and Leo Jerome at Story. I was reading a random article from the Chicago tribune that Story best year was 5000 Oldsmobile sold. That's 16 cars a day subtracting Sundays only.

Pat, you're correct, Leo Jerome was Karl Story's son-in-law. He worked at Story Olds then became the Owner?/Gen. Manager of University Olds. All the patrol car fleets for Ingham County and Lansing Police came from Story Olds.

My dad worked as a salesman at Story, do you guys remember the tent sales they had at the Marshall street Armory field? He hated that, cold and miserable, but sold a lot of cars! They gave him a bright red coat with his name on the front and a big Story logo on the back, that is long gone unfortunately.

I grew up in East Lansing, going to East Lansing High School in the early 70's. I remember Story Olds used to provide the driver training cars to the school and all of them were Cutlasses. However I distinctly remembered 1 of them was a 442 and I would always ask, when we were going out to drive, if I could get that 442. LOL I think it was a '71 or '72 and I drove it 1 time...

Grand Ledge drivers ed got theirs from Regency. Since I started driving in the mid 80's We had a custom cruiser, delta 88 and the N body Calais. I ended up with the Calais coupe.

When I went to work at the local Oldsmobile dealership in November of '73, all of the driver ed. cars were coming in for their mid semester inspection. We had 6 Delta 88s and 3 Cutlasses. Oldsmobile was a big sponsor of the driver ed. programs in our area. The dealer also received rebates for the program.

There was a Crippen Olds in Miami, FL. My car still has the dealer frame from there.

Same family. My Alero, which I still have with 12,700 miles came from Crippen Lansing/GL

Check out the earlier posts under "Oldsmobile Dealer List is now online" at middle of page 2 of posts, and then late last year you'll find posts about Andreas Olds and other Lansing dealerships.

In the different posts, I seen both the "Andreas" and "Andres" spellings - both spellings do exist, and since my family name is the former, I wonder which is correct for the Lansing Olds dealership.
