I agree. My dad taught me very young how to troubleshoot and repair basic things, as I got older, my confidence increased. After someone showed me how to remove and replace a V8 my world opened up. Even a simple tire change is a teachable moment.

When I was kid my dad showed me how to put the necessary work into our station wagons care and maintenance.
That to me meant something I could take pride in and know we can do that work ourselves.

Most all of our family cars growing up with 5 kids were used, and they need basic maintenance not dealer provided, Like you, he took the time to teach us the value of working on our own stuff. good on you for posting your kids participation with this, Kudo's.
