You asked. Might as well make it exactly correct right?
Thanks Jasen. exactly the feedback I was looking for.

What TK said ..... I have an old original "BC" decal from possibly a '70 GS 350 air cleaner base and the "K" is slightly to the L of the "G" (last line "General Motors....") and the "M" ("....all GM") is just about lined up with the "." that appears on the last line (".....trademarks.").

No problem. I'm just like you I redid the jack and tire decals for my 65 because the repros weren't exactly right.

Also it is hard to tell on the low resolution image you posted but is the red type too thin of a stroke (For maximum performance....). Looks too narrow, I don't think it would be "bold" but maybe a bit heavier than it is

Thanks Patton. I agree with you guys on the spacing, so I'll request that change.

Here is the updated 69 F-85 and Cutlass tire pressure decal.

69 F-85/Cutlass tire pressure decals are in my hands. Below is an original decal (the door isn't usable), on the bottom left is the current repro you are most likely to purchase and on the bottom right is the one I just had done.

70 air cleaner decals are also in my hands. In the below pic, the top is the current repro with the correct codes (this example is a 69). The bottom is the 70 I just had done. Notice the substantial size difference.
ON is for W-25/W-30/W-31
OP is for 442
OI is for 350 4bbl

69 Hurst tire pressure decals and 70 for all models are on deck.
69 air cleaner decals are also on deck.

I know I must sound like a broken record, but thanks for getting the decal size right. I can't believe they have had such an important, easily fixed detail like the size so wrong for so long - let alone harder things like fonts, PMS colors etc...

Also, just confirming you know there's are two different 70 model tire pressure decal. I had to have one made for my 70 because the repo is so god awful wrong.

Any update on possibly making an "OS" sticker for the '69 4-4-2? Your work is fantastic!

Joe, based on your feedback I went back and triple checked the size to make sure they were correct. And yes, based on your resto thread and a couple others I found out there are a couple 70 tire pressure decals. I have one version on my car (one of the few good things on the car) and in one of the resto threads have a good picture also. I don't recall the code off the top of my head. That version will be one that gets done. If I get a good clear copy of an original of the other version that one can get done also.

Randy, yes, OS and OV will be done. I need to check on other 69 codes.

Steven, just don't let the mightaswells kick and frame off the car. You went through more than enough getting it painted last time.

The first run of ON coded decals is gone. I will have a second run printed and more quantity. When those are available, I'll update the thread.

The OP and OI codes for 70 are still available for purchase as are 69 F-85/Cutlass tire pressure decals.

Thanks for everyone's interest.

I have the original air cleaner for my 1969 442. Car has been in family since new. I

It’s an Ontario built 1969 442 holiday coupe 4 speed with a 400 engine. The air cleaner OS sticker is still on the air cleaner. If it helps anyone create an exact replica I would be happy to share. Ps still have the car. I would like to buy several OS code stickers if they are correct. Thanks all Dave

I now have additional air cleaner "keep your gm car" decals in my hands

70 ON code for OAI cars
69 OS code for 442s
69 OV code for W-30/W-31/W-32
69 OW code for H/O

$10 each plus shipping. email may be the best way to get a hold of me. grp442@yahoo.com I will try and check the site more often than I have lately (busy working and trying to assembly my W-31)

Thanks,
Chris

It may be worth, down the road, making an "Exact Reproduction Decal Package" ordering scheme, because I would think many people may not know all that they need.

I could be like "dude, I need the 67 442 kit" and you could come back with "you need more info like steel wheels or super stocks" etc.

My new ON decals arrived and look great. Very well packaged. Thanks

My 70 Fremont built 442 convertible came with an "ON" tire pressure decal. I've not seen one like it before. Is this one available anywhere?

Whats the build date on the car? I have a few examples of the tire pressure decal for 70 that is landscape format, can't recall the code off the top of my head. I plan on getting that one done.

"os" air cleaner sticker placement

Now that I have a beautiful "OS" sticker for my '69 4-4-2, I'm not quite sure about its placement. I originally intended to install it 180 degrees out from the air cleaner snout, where the original "OG" silk screen is on my '68 4-4-2. But, when I look at manual section 6-1, page 151, of my '69 assembly manual/PIM, it appears to me that the sticker is supposed to be applied 90 degrees to the right of the snout as you look down on the air cleaner assembly.

If anyone has amplifying/verifying info on this, I will appreciate it very much.

The "OS" stickers are beautiful. It sure is nice to have this part correct on my car instead of having a one-size-fits-all sticker attached!

I was finally able to look at my 70 assembly manual. section 0 page 110. it only lists codes OA and OB. ON isn't even listed. I'd have to think this is a Fremont plant thing. Having a couple cars from Fremont myself, they just did different things at times. Your ON clearly shows 455 F-85, so I doubt it's a "carryover" from 69. But who knows.

I wondered about the carryover status too but with no 455 in 69 i guess it's pretty unlikely

I concur that it could be a "Fremont plant thing". I met an Olds dealership owner of that era who got cars both from Lansing and Fremont. He despised the Fremont cars. He told me the quality control at the Fremont plant was not good during that time and he much preferred getting his cars from Lansing.

I kind of noticed the same thing when I restored my '68 4-4-2 (a Lansing car that came from the dealership I mentioned above) and then my '69 4-4-2 (a Fremont car). We restored the '68 first and, as I recall, it was pretty complete - I didn't have to search down grommets, fasteners, plugs, and so forth. The '69 was a different story - many missing fasteners, a critically missing plug in the floorboard that caused rust in the driver side forward, a missing bracket for the cruise control transducer (I still haven't found a replacement), and so forth.

The dealership owner's first question to me when I talked to him about the '68 was, "Is it a Lansing car or a Fremont car?" That's pretty telling in itself!

I know the Fremont plant also assembled certain Pontiacs (A-body I know for sure) and possibly other lines. The ON sticker quite possibly came from one of those other lines.

Does anyone know the purpose of the two letter code on the Keep Your GM Car All GM decal? Was it to identify the correct air cleaner base to the assembly line worker installing them, was it for the mechanics working in dealership shops, or for some other reason?

My grip with the repro decals for tire pressure and others is that they are reprod on "paper" not vinyl , don't have the durability nor correct colors, usually too light.. especially the red outline..

Anyone find ones that don't have this problem?? I've tried all the companies Year One, Fusick, Osborne Reprodctions, Mrk Cornea, etc they ALL fall short IMO

Fred.

Thoughts??

I'm sure it was an assembly line aid. These types of codes are very common in the industry

I agree, most of the decals out there are just garbage. There is a market for high quality accurate reproductions.

the two letter code was to identify the air cleaner for the application. This can be seen in the assembly manual.

these decals I'm having done are on 3M Scotch-cal vinyl.

now that MCACN is over, I can get back on these decals.

I also located a 69 442 tire pressure decal off a nice unrestored 69 W-30, so I'll look into getting that one repro'd too

in summary, all decals are $10 each

currently have

69 F-85/Cutlass tire pressure decals

69 Keep your GM car GM air cleaner decals, below two letter codes
OS - 69 442
OV - 69 W-car, W-30/W-31/W-32
OW - 69 H/O

70 Keep your GM car GM air cleaner decals, below two letter codes
ON - 70 OAI cars - W-30/W-31/W-25
OP - 70 442
OI - 70 350 4bbl

Are you still doing these decals? or do you have any inventory left? Looking for an OP for my 70 SX W32.

Thanks,
