It just kills me !!
At least it got used, unlike much of the cars in this hobby, that only roll into and out of warehouse.
I think that is more of a waste than anything Hollywood ever has done.
So many would love to have a car and be in the hobby, but all the cars are in a temp controlled warehouse waiting on the next up swing in the collector car market.
That is the real shame.

How many cars have been wrecked in movies?, I think thirteen Mustangs were used up making Bullit for example.
But when the movies were made mostly they were just another car.
Roger.
Some of us do it for the love; we drive them and there's no payday to wait for.
I have a few old cars, not exactly the one I'd really like to own. but they are priced out of my means . Only reason they are priced out of my means is fake supply and demand. and when I say fake, It is my opinion that those with them shoved in a warehouse are not in it because they wanted one when younger, or had one and wanted another and was going to cruise it around. They are in it only to make money. They'd sell it to a person that had a car crusher on the other side of the auction block as long as they are the high bidder.
Sadly the cars I'd truly want. one is now worth more than I could risk my marriage on, buying.77-78 t/a poncho 400/4spd or a 79 ws-6 400/4spd and the other was never thought of as worth saving and finding one that isn't worn/rusted out junk is not in the cards.
77 cutlass 350/403 bucket seats console, p/w,p/l tilt cruise, the 442/s roof line and side window and 442 tail lights. I know my dads wasn't a 442, but that is the way it was. Loved that car. my 75 salon, will have to do.
Although I don't have a warehouse full of cars, I have no problem with what you describe midnightleadfoot. That's called capitalism and supply and demand, sadly a lot of people don't understand the principle. I would assume if you had a boat load of money, your attitude would be different.

And here is why.
I love cars and the hobby of cruising/ fixing/ hot rodding and racing.
That said. it is all die'n. WHY.
Well a BIG part of that is these cars are now not every day drivers for the most part, and what is left is stuffed away in warehouses, or even a garage only to come out a few times a year/season. and when it does come out it is only going to car events, many times in a enclosed trailer not to be seen until a 1/4 from the event when rolled out and idled into the show
Most don't say the snow is gone the salt is off the road, time to take the bear out of hibernation and start driving it every day they can. or as much as they can, too many are only used for events only.
This causes a problem, How can a younger group get into something they NEVER SEE??!!!.
When I was a 6-7-8-9-etc year old. almost daily you'd hear a set of glasspacks or "turbo" mufflered cars and not just one. You heard them then looked, and they had wide tires, chrome rims, and many times either bright colored paint, red oxide primer or the car was so clean you could eat off it.
Today, if I hear one in the spring/summer/fall a week other than if there is a local cruise/show I'm lucky.
Or you hear it, turn and have to FIND it as it is a newer car that blends into the rest of them. and "earth tones" for colors.
I can not blame younger people for ,for the most part blowing off the hobby ,as they never see it.
They can't even be riding their bike and go whoh, look at that in the driveway, as they are all stuffed in a garage now. not left out in the weather as it might get rained on. OMG not that.
We are the reason the hobby is die'n but most won't look in the mirror and admit why.
YMMV.

I don't know what part of the country your from. Here in N Texas, the first sign of spring, usually in March, is when the cars come out. You will see cars from March all the way through December, with multiple choices of local and national car events to go to every weekend. Seriously the car scene is nowhere near dead, and there are many choices of mostly rust free cars to buy down here at reasonable prices.
