Just got a call from the wife...not good

Seems she hit a deer on her way to work in her Suzuki Grand Vitara, not the best deer smashing car but it does have a brush guard up front. All is well with her but she was real upset with what her car looks like now, she is very particular on how it looks and for a 14 year old car it was very nice daily driver.I haven't seen it yet but she said the hood closes hard and the a passenger door wont close after she opened it. I guess the deer rolled down the side of the car after it clipped the front.I'm headed for town with the Olds to pick her up , we were going out for dinner but maybe not after this.....Pictures at 11......Tedd

Sorry to hear of her misfortune. The most important thing is that she is fine and everything else can be replaced easily.

Second that , as long as she is alright everything else is gravy, besides a nice vista cruiser should be able to handle a deer, and you can always move up to one of those ginormous nintey eight wagons lol for elk , moose and sasquatci and such h lol

Happy to hear she wasn't injured. Enjoy your dinner together, she will probably need a couple Tylenol and advil after the shake up wears off. Take good care of her Tedd .

Oh dear.

Glad to hear your wife is okay, and I'm sorry about the car. Sad when they go that way.

Definitely agree, do something nice for your wife, and maybe a shot of brandy wouldn't hurt either. Give her our regards.

As for the deer, I've not no great sympathy for overgrown, garden-destroying mice. I just hope it was quick - it's a shame when they've got to squirm until the trooper shows up with the .357.

Anymore I don't care if they do suffer. Having had five cars destroyed and untold landscaping, fruit trees and vegetable gardens munched into oblivion by them might color that some.

My experience is that a deer collision often creates a lot of unseen damage.

State wildlife departments sure don't manage their livestock very well. I'd love to smack the dogcrap out of the folks in Vajenya who introduced those two herds into this area in 1972. We now have some of the highest car insurance rates in the country because of all the deer crashes. Did I mention this county has the highest deer population per square mile in the southeastern US?

Damn a deer. Just glad yer missus wasn't badly hurt.

Glad to here your wife is ok! Now that is morning hopefully things will look better to her.

Friends of my family hit a draft horse. Took the legs out and crushed the roof of the car on top of them. It took awhile but the are all better now.

Here are a few pics. Yes she was lucky, she managed to miss the first deer only to hit the second one that was following. When I passed that area later that day the deer was gone, It may have been picked up by someone or the state dept.of hwy could have removed it or it may have gotten up and just stumbled off in to the brush.

We managed to pry the hood up enough to allow it to somewhat resemble what it was before the deer, same with the rear door(boy these things are made of thin metal and at a distance it looks not to bad, up close it looks like a bag of walnuts. The rear door is going to take someone better than me to iron out all the wrinkles or maybe a different door. I have a new headlight bucket on order and a'm working on putting the grill trim back together, it's plastic and busted up somewhat I'm sure she will drive it again but it may make a trip to the used car lot if she doesn't like what the finished appearance is, time will tell....Tedd

I thought she just bagged dinner She should always have a hunting knife in the car, because a roadkill should be gutted as soon as possible.
The Suzuki can get bumped back into shape. It's not likely she bent the subframe. The fender just got pushed back a little and is jamming the door. Let her keep it as it is, in case she hunts more deer and make it clear that accidents with wild animals are most of the time hazardous, only when the driver instinctively tries swerving out of the way and thus loses control of the vehicle. I once did that. But, was lucky not to have lost it. The animal was lucky and just missed getting bagged

Like everyone else said, long as all the people were ok cars and deer can be replaced. but I will say be careful in that olds, you can replace a Subaru, you cant replace an olds anymore. although if you smacked the deer in a 50/60/70s olds at like 40 and under itd probably be insignificant, or even noticeable after a wash and buff maybe small dent on the grille and a chip on the bumper chrome haha. bright side, good excuse for a new daily driver!

I don't know what would be more embarrassing bending over to pick up my bag of nuts.... or shrugging off the slap for looking at the blonde picking up a nice rump roast after I rear ended 'er' .
