Junior Johnson has passed away at the age of 88. Where would NASCAR be without him. RIP Mr. Johnson

One of the last inaugural Nascar greats that contributed the marriage of the sponsorship of RJ Reynolds (Winston) to Nascar. From moonshiner to Stockcar racer, a story of great success both as a driver, a team owner, and a person. RIP JR Johnson.

Junior was a character. I remember him suddenly running faster than the field. The back window blew out after the race began and he kept going. He "conveniently" lost a back window in every race or tried to start a race without one. I am sure a few teams laughed about his "bad luck" or "maintenance".... til they caught on to what was happening. I think USAC or Nascar wrote a rule when they figured it out. RIP Junior
