Instrument cluster fuse keeps blowning

Any thoughts on a fix? My IC fuse on my 1974 Delta 88 keeps blowing and I have not touched the car all summer other than to drive it every couple weeks. In other words, i did not screw something up. The fuse connects to the clock, radio light and IC lights. The cluster still works, just does not illuminate. I am just bot sure how I got a short since I have not been messing with it.

Another member had a similar issue recently. There are high frequency vibrations that run through the cars chassis that will cause something thats chaffing to finally short with no fault to anything you did.

For what it's worth, I have a lawn tractor that started blowing a fuse a few years ago. They ran a wire through a small hole in the frame without a grommet. 16 years of vibrations wore through the wire insulation causing the problem. Not many wires on a lawn tractor, so it was easy to find.

Try running a ground to a reliable grounding location. Most electrical issues are related to a poor ground. The number of fuel gauge issues related to a poor ground...as cars sit around and the ground corodes you run into issues.

I do have a grounding issue with my front turn signal/side maker light. Could they be related?

No they are not related. Your issues are strictly a short in the lighting circuit. Inspect the gray wires behind the dash. This is not a missing ground problem either.

Thanks Eric - still too hot here to pull the dash, will update this thread next month. "It's a dry heat."
