Installation Help Needed
Guys:
1970 442--Has anyone had to replace the small, black plastic "window corners" that attach to the strip of chrome window trim around the front, upper door frame on a GM A body hardtop? (see pictures)
Tried using industrial strength clear superglue, but it won't stay put. They really have to be attached firmly as the window glass presses almost rightup against it.

If they just glue on, i would use 3M #8008 black super weatherstrip adhesive and somehow clamp them in place over night, with STRONG clamps. If they normally attach some other way then someone else will have to chime in on that.
Kinda looks like there are tabs on the backside that should be pressed into the holes in the metal part. From the looks of it, the metal piece would likely need to be off the car in order to press them in,though.
Where to buy the corners
RJOHNSON:
The replacement door window corners are available online direct from:
trimparts.com They were $18.75 for the pair.
Their part number is 4579 (GM original part #8723875).

FUN71 You Are Right
At the same time I posted here, I also send a request for installation information to the guys at Trim Parts, where I found the corners to begin with.
The rep said you have to remove the metal corner bracket from the two pieces of trim, inset the black plastic corner into the bracket and melt the two pins over to form a "head". This makes perfect sense for a permanent attachment.
Now, my question is; how do you get the two connecting pieces of chrome off the door frame without bending or damaging them? I can never seem to get exterior pieces of chrome back on the body like they came off.
Anyone know the proper procedure for removing this trim?
Thanks for your help so far.
