You wont find the color on the VIN it will be on the cowl tag, or body tag located under the under on the drivers side on the firewall. The color you are talking about sounds like Firethorn red. Color code would be 71V. I think there was just one red that year and that would be it.

I'm going to take a shot at this, not 100% sure but I think I'm very close.

Based on the info you provided...

ST = Style ????
77 = Model Year
3AJ57 = (3 - Olds Division) (A-body type) (J57 - Model type: Hardtop Coupe)
R = Arlington (plant where your car was built)
092385 = Unit number
BDY = Body

TR = Trim
71E = (71 - Dark Firethorn) (E - Cloth and Vinyl or Leather)
AM6 = 60/40 Split Bench (Modular Seat Code)
13L = Silver Metallic (Lower body color)
36T = Firethorn Red Metallic Vinyl (Top)
PNT = Paint

ICD 210213 = ????

There's a Time Built Code on the tag as well, not sure if it's this ICD number or another number.

Some one will chime in and confirm, fill in the blanks, or make corrections where necessary, stay tuned.
