Well, given that we can hardly see it at all in that photo and that clicking on the photo doesn't bring up a larger image, it's going to be hard to say. Perhaps it's just a stylized "R" for "Royale" or maybe the entire word "Royale" like below?

I imagine several years of Delta 88s had this badge or one like it. Sometimes the exact styling of the badge might change from year to year.

Someone else will need to jump in & confirm ... but some food for thought :
What about the interior sail panel emblems from an 80-85 coupe ?.
Do they have a stud to secure them to the rear sail panels vs double sided tape which I believe the exterior 77-79 emblems use ?.
If the interior ones do have a stud ...
Perhaps they could be carefully ground off ... leaving a flat surface you could attach some new double-sided tape to.
