Ice Cold A/C (Again)

So my AC compressor started to scream intermittently one day. Noticed some front area leakage as well. This is on my '75 Regency 98.

Looks like the compressor was replaced at the dealer in '92, also due to a leak at the front seal, so after 28 years, the same thing happened again! I decided to source a Delco rebuilt. Murray's/O'Rileys out of all places had a Delco USA reman on the shelf. Shocking! 147 bucks with my discount so that worked! Not a bad project, but a second set of hands would have been awesome. Getting tension on the belt, and hefting the compressor up while getting the bolts started was a sight to be seen I'm sure if anyone was watching lol.Filled it up with some mineral oil, gave it a few spins and bolted it in. New O rings and such of course.

Then pulled a nice vac on the system, held for 2 hours so I called that good. Cleaned the condenser as well. Then, close to 4lbs of R-12 later, we had 31.7 degrees out of the vents at about 90 ambient in park in the sun. Works for me! I can absolutely freeze my nipples off driving around in 90 degree plus high humidity weather. Makes taking the car out a pleasure even in this heat.

Also replaced the starter, went to a super neat guys house and saw some cool cars, and took some long drives. Averaging over 500 miles a month so far since March, and it's been great!

Really nice photos. The way the rear wheel opening goes is unique.

no, no, you're stuck with MINE! Funny thing though, my buddys girlfriend said it was "embarrassingly cold" we turned around to verify, she wasn't lying!

Thanks guys! It feels good to have everything working correctly. Just continuing to shake the car down before I go for some big (1000 mile plus) trips.

Oh my, and that pic made me think of that scrumptious back seat in the 98. Shame, Shame.

Took the car out to a nice get together at Doug's Dogs in Oak Forest, Ill. last night. Good turnout and lots of fun, had some good food and some beers and enjoyed a bunch of cars. Not many Oldsmobiles though! Saw a Cutlass Convertible, and a 50 something, I didn't have a chance to get a good look at. If youre local to Chicago, this happens every Friday at 6.

I should have taken some better pictures, but I had a few beers and was preoccupied lol. Had lots of cars across 3 or so parking lots, and it was nice to get out to a show. FINALLY
