I Need a Kick in the Ass

I will admit to being something of a perfectionist. When I approach my car work, I try to work on only one or two jobs at a time and do each one as well as I can. If you look at the project as a whole, it is easy to get a bit overwhelmed and feel like quitting because you feel you'll never get done. Celebrate each small victory and don't set any deadlines. Bag and tag everything and take a ton of pictures. Make sure you have the parts and pieces on hand before starting each job. Get a year specific shop manual and a factory assembly manual. If you don't know, ask questions online and of buddies that know what they're doing. If you belong to OCA, they have a listing in each JWO of year and model experts. Call them. And finally, don't half *** something just to get it over with. I always figure that it's better to have it right than right now. You'll end up with a car to be proud of.

Great thread!.
Keeping motivated is tough. Mine comes from making these cars alive again...that first drive.
I never want to be in the position of these cars. The green challenger is so perfect my friend never drives it.
The other two are both 6 and 20 yr Restos. I will never be in these positions....I kinda of get motivation from these cars, as I am determined never to end up owning cars like them. The owners are good friends, and I am not dissing them...just different takes on perfection and motivation..
