i finely picked up my lift!

i have planed to buy one since February but spent the money on oldsmobiles. i got some of them sold and made a little extra so i just picked up the lift. i also got a bead blast cabinet. i will post some pictures of it after i set it up. may post a couple of the setting up process. i am waiting on parts from the guy having me restore the 442 chassis so i will have time to get a good start setting it up.

make sure the floor is thick enough where you mount it. I had to cut my floor and make 4' x 4' x 10" concrete pads to mount mine on.

Enjoy....your jack will get lonely now

the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 4 inches and 3000 psi concrete. mine is 3000 psi and 5 1/2 thick. it comes with anchors and they go 3 3/4 deep into the concrete. they do recommend that you drill all the war through the concrete so if you mess up the threads you can drive the anchor into the ground and set a new one in the hole.

You can use running thread and an apoxy anchor, Has the strength you need and less chance of screwing up the threads. Building supply store carry it.

the hardest part of setting this up was measuring the floor and getting it where i wanted it. after i got the floor marked where i wanted it i second guessed myself. after several hours of debating if i had it marked where i wanted it i decided to just go with my first instinct. got it done and was in the perfect spot. i am very pleased with it. the price has come down for these a little from what they were last year. this was only $1595 so it may be in some peoples budget that thought they were more than this. i looked at several so if anybody is looking to get one i may have a recommendation good and bad of the ones i looked at.

Whats the ceiling height in there? Can you stand underneath the car without bending over? Is that lift brand new (1595)?

the lift is new. they had some cheeper but did not look as safe as this one. my ceiling height is 10 foot 4 inches. the lift will go all the way up with about 2 inches to spare. (with an A body car on it) i am 6 foot tall and can stand under it without leaning over. just watch out for the tires and the arms that hold the car up. on my 91 442, the floor boards are a little lower with the way they were made and had to use the adapters that came with the lift to raise the car a couple more inches so i could stand under it.

this is the one that i got.

when i originally wanted one i measured from the floor to the top of the car to see how much room i would have under it. then realized that you only measure from the bottom of the frame to the top of the car. the people i got it from said that many people make that same mistake. 10 foot 4 inch ceiling will not work very good for a truck or van but will do fine for my cars.
