I am requiring my 66 olds cutlass .I have a painless wiring kit that is anything but painless. I also have every piece of the original working that is in great shape.

I am not sure which direction the flat wire goes note where it connects at the back.

I am also not so sure what these big fat grey and purple wires go?

any help would be appreciated.

The big flat ribbon runs from the fuse block to the rear seat base.

Are you sure that the fat purple and gray are wires? Those are the colors used for the vacuum control lines to the heater.
Purple is normally the start circuit from the ignition switch to the starter. Gray is normally the dimmer circuit in the dash but would be smaller gauge.

I agree that painless should be called painful

It also sounds more like an 86 than a 66.
