HP Exhaust Manifolds

Has anyone tried these? I have headers right now and want to go back to a stock look, but better performance. Headers are just A PITA.

That has certainly not been my experience and my car has had headers since 1982. What brand headers do you have?

I am interested in results for these as well.

The stock 350 EX manifolds look pretty restrictive, have the extra port to crossover, and the two center ports are open to each other.

Not sure what they are, they came with the car, My concerns are the starter. The tubes on these are all but touching and no room for the heat shield. If I had to change it its a lift of the engine to it. And the oil filter is right above one of the tubes. Of course I know I can relocate the filter and I may still do it. I have owned cars with them and like the sound. Performance for this 350 may not be so much. I have the low compression motor with #8 heads. I'm doing a full frame off resto, and its going to be a driver not a show car. It's not numbers matching. I'm building a copy of the first car I bought back in high school.

My starter is trapped by the header as well, but I learned I can still get it out. Once the bolts are loosened, the starter drops down and is trapped between the oil pan and the header instead of me having to hold it up with one hand while I disconnect the wiring with the other. Makes that part of the job much simpler. Once the wiring is off, I can move the starter forward and slightly upward to get it out.

So why not use a mini starter and a new set of headers for a smbo. With a mini starter i doubt you will need a heat shield.

Look up “Thornton's 350 JR Exhaust Manifolds” on the forums. There are a few threads about them.

What would be a good brand?
Headman's I hear fit like they are made for it. I have a Cutlass Supreme and I'm seeing fitment issues with other brands.
I think the ones I have are cheap and look like someone modified them to make them fit.

I have Heddman's on my car but as I said, they are from last century and I have no idea what brands are good these days.

I bought mine from Thornton's through eBay and its a lot cheaper than OPGI. $299 back in 3/2014. He still has it listed on eBay if you're still interested.
