Hello everyone I want to replace the dust shield on my 1967 cutlass console I unscrewed the ball but I cant figure out how to remove the cross bar under the ball. Can someone tell me how please

 

There's a roll pin holding the "T handle"/crossbar on.....look below the handle bars on either side and you'll see a small hole with the roll pin in it. Use an appropriate sized punch and small hammer to tap out the roll pin. It's best to have something pressed against the T handle while you tap on the roll pin....to keep the chrome shifter handle from moving side to side.
