how do I regulate my clock?

The clock in my 55 works(runs all the time) but gains about 1/2 hour a day or more making it pretty much worthless unless I reset it every time I get in it. Is there an adjustment for this and do I need to remove the clock to do it . Thanks..Tedd

PS should I lubricate it and if yes with what?

I may be wrong, but think if you keep resetting it to the correct time by turning the stem backwards (if fast) and forward (if slow) it will regulate itself to show the correct time.

That's definitely true of the sixties and seventies clocks - not sure about the fifties ones, though. Usually if it's separately adjustable, there's a screw and pointer either on the face or on the back. If there is none, then it probably nudges slightly slower or faster every time you set it back or ahead. You have to keep nudging it over and over to get it where you want it.

On the bright side, if it's fast, I think that means it's not gummed up and in need of cleaning and lubrication.

its right twice a day?

Just turn it off, then its right twice a day!! (hollywood squares answer)
You will have to remove the clock from the dash. You can lubricate the parts then with silicone spray. There is a adjustment slider movement in there, but without the proper watchmaker timing devices, it trial and error til you get it right. Make small adjustments and see what that buys you. Then go from there. On the bench it may take a while to get it dialed right, and then its no gurantee as springs stretch and if you are off by one thousandth LOL. sometimes its too far past adjustment... or get a quartz movement conversion.

Stetzie is correct, keep resetting it to the correct time by turning the stem back. After a few you time or you may even do a complete (12 hour) rewind. It will eventualy keep time.
