Hot 442

I was wondering if a turn off valve can be installed on the heater hose to prevent the coolant from going into the heater core? It still has heat coming in to the inside of the vehicle even though the lever is on cold, but not as hot when the lever is on the hot side when i cut the air conditioning on the heat stops. I rather cruise down the road with the windows down. I have a valve installed on my vette with no problems.

If you have A/C you already have a hot water valve. The valve may be stuck open. There is vacuum hose from the engine to control panel to operate the heater/A/C flapper doors under the dash. Check your vacuum and all the vacuum pods that operate the heater-A/C doors. Also check if the vacuum hose is connected to the hot water valve, which is on the passenger side rear of the intake manifold.
Also check if the water valve is there!

Thank you for the info. The heater core has a leak so if i cut it to heat it will drip and if i cut it to cold it doesn't. But running down the road you can feel heat coming from the vents, i will reseach the flapper door to make sure it is working properly.
