Homecoming

I'm bringing a large amount of used original parts, mostly '70-'72 stuff but some older & newer next weekend. Anyone looking for anything particular they want me to bring?

Lansing, June 20th. Always on Father's day weekend. Lansing Michigan, 400-500 cars maybe?? Probably 50 vendors almost exclusively Oldsmobile parts. No chevy, ford, or mopar junk.
Long drive for you but well worth it if you can make it.

Warning the location on the flier has changed due to construction on the old site! 7285 Parsons drive Dimondale MI 48821.

I was informed by the board that I used to work with and still do in a very minor role. That this maybe the last one! The committee has been informed by the state of Michigan that both sites may or may not be available in the future?

And to top it all off that half of the committee are retiring after 2015 and 4 of them have been doing this for 2 decades.

We including myself have been trying to come up with another site. We have been turned down by GM and others.

FYI this could be the last show.

That would have been nice to know earlier.

At one week to go, too late to round up a helper and/or trailer and clean out...

Dan,
I'm bring our Yukon & a full trailer. I'd like to drive the Vista but it isn't going to happen.

Pat,
Thanks for the heads up, I should have included that in the other post.

Though not in Lansing, how about the Gilmore Car Museum, an excellent venue for a large event.

Scott, if you have a nice left hand parking light housing, I'd take it off your hands.( For a 70 Cutlass.)

I will be looking for a few odds and ends at homecoming...
1 Black vent that mounts to the quarter where the door closes.
I have a rear view mirror w/light but glass is broken -> looking for glass, I believe same as non light type, can be in rough shape, will need to remove it anyway and likely resilver it.
I have a working AM/FM radio, it's a 71 or 2, but need the band selector (slider), don't care which year at this point.

I will be browsing for 70 sport mirrors and a 350 4bbl air cleaner as well, but those are less urgent.

Thanks,
George

Sorry, I was focusing on not my needs but the needs of others in finding another place to hold it! I have ran this show in the past and have helped before and after and never asked for a pat on the back! So you first statement could have been seen as a slight which, I am sure was not your intention?

HI Scott I'm looking for the little rollers that attach to the glass at the bottom of the rear window glass . They get broke frequently apparently and it lets the glass flop about .Kinda like the picture . Thanks Brian

Yes Gilmore Museum. Was there in 2010. One of the Best to go too! They have redone the layout/displays, buildings, and added more cars/items since I was there. Trying to go there again this year.

I usually get there 2-3 times a year, in the last couple of years they have added the Heritage Center, the Ford Model A , Lincoln, and Cadillac/LaSalle museums.

Homecoming was awesome

HATS OFF to oldspackrat and all the others who have those parts available, and put all that work into bringing them. Many folks still bring cast iron, heads, cranks, differentials, etc.

4.33 posi available

F heads available

AMAZING array of cars.

I might get some more pix onto facebook and start a thread here unless it has been started.

I talked to someone who is very well connected to the Homecoming show & despite the rumors to the contrary, the show will go on next year & for the forseeable future.

Thanks to all who stopped by. I met some of you for the first time, & others again. It is a bit of work to get all the stuff rounded up & set out but it is something I enjoy.

After looking for a while he found a guy at the show with a hoist & they loaded it pretty quickly & easily. He was very appreciative of our help with everything.
I had a few people asking about you & your car. You'll be a hit at the Nationals!

[QUOTE=oldspackrat;832202]I talked to someone who is very well connected to the Homecoming show & despite the rumors to the contrary, the show will go on next year & for the foreseeable future.

Your information is correct about homecoming. I was notified Friday night by several committee members that they have procured the current area.

But again, were still not out of the woods yet! We may have up to four husband and wife combos retiring.

As far as positions that are open as of Saturday night are: Head chairman, vice chairman, swap meet????? This list may shrink or grow?

I have tossed my hat back in the ring. I am not sure if I will be welcomed back, not being a chapter member?

lol, I was texted 4 times from there wondering where I was. I was also butt dialed by Ron Memmer for 3 minutes but couldn't hear anything. I am going to be in much better posistion next year and shouldn't have any problem going.

I was thinking that it would be cool if everybody who is on Classic Olds could meet up and say hi at the show . I was there and met Scott (Oldspackrat ) but I would have liked to have met some of you other guys that were there , if I knew what you looked like !! And really it's the only all Oldsmobile show that I can make it to.Just a thought .

I had talked about this at one time but never had the time to make it happen. Maybe at least name tags with name and user name?
