Hemmings Muscle Machines August 2012 Issue

Congratulations to rcorrigan5 whose 1968 Olds 442 convertible has a nice 5 page article/photo spread in the August 2012 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines which I just received in the mail today. In addition, a nice little shot of the car on the cover. Nice article and well deserved Randy!

Many thanks to all at this site who helped me restore my 4-4-2 to near-factory specs. I'm the lucky one here, but only because of the help you all provided when we were putting my car back together again. I've learned so much technical detail (still only enough to scratch the surface, but still much, much more than I knew when I started!) through your generous contributions. The end result was a car that won best of class at the Olds Nationals last summer, got a feature story in Wild About Cars in Sep 2011, and now is in HMM.

I am forever grateful to all of you.

Again, many thanks to all of you. You are the ones that help guide me through this restoration and answer my questions to this day!

The South Sound 4-4-2 Club 23rd annual car show and picnic is this Sunday, July 8th, from 10AM to 2PM, at Griot's Garage, 3333 South 38th Street, Tacoma. It's a great event, the weather promises to be fantastic, and the venue is perfect. Last year, Griot's even opened their store for us, put on some demonstrations, and I seem to recall that they had a bit of a discount for buyers that day. They might even have a food vendor there this year - it was discussed by I don't know if it came to fruition or not. I'm planning on being there, although I'm having a heck of a time with my car now. Ever since I rebuilt the carburetor, it hasn't run right. I get surges, and then periods when it seems like the engine is cutting out. I'm even to the point where I'm thinking it might not be the carburetor at all - that it might be something electrical, such as the coil.

I drove it to Ft. Lewis this morning for their annual 4th of July celebration and car show. Any time I accelerate now, I'm throwing black smoke. On a previous carb adjustment, I was throwing lots of white smoke. Running a bit rich, perhaps. But I'll eventually get it right. Even if I'm throwing black smoke on Sunday, I'm planning on being at Griot's!

Congrats on the ink for your brass hat car.

I love all the old photos in the time line life of the car.

Randy,

Congrats! Nice article on a great car! Glad I got a chance to see it, and meet and talk with you a bit, at last year's OCA Nats in Reno.
