Help with re-constructing Cowl tag from build sheet
I am trying to replace a missing cowl tag from a 1970 Cutlass SX convertible. I bought the car about 8 months ago without the cowl tag, the owner did not have it nor did he know what happened to it. He did, however, have a recovered build sheet from under the back seat. I want to as accurately as possible, re-produce the cowl tag for this car from the build sheet information. I'm here to enlist the help of the Oldsmobile community to piece together the information from the attached build sheet and fill in the information on the attached cowl tag template.
For the sake of full disclosure and so as to be clear on my intent, the Vehicle Identification Number on the build sheet matches the VIN, engine number and transmission number also match, so I feel confident that the car and the build sheet are a match, so there is no intent to "create" a car from other pieces of cars. I am particularly looking for information for the "TIME BUILT CODE", "UNIT NUMBER", and why the build sheet shows three characters for trim code, yet the cowl tag template shows four spaces. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Scot, I was just ready to post and saw your reply. 2 things to add.
A65 should be in the spec after trim code.
I believe the missing numbers you posted a x's are 029900

You realize of course that the extra digits with the 6 numbers is a total guess. They may or may not have been on the original Cowl Tag. But looking at the Build Sheet, that SX has a very good option list that most dealers wouldn't order. IMO it looks like a customer order car which would likely have had the extra numbers on the tag though.
This is also the first references I've seen on box 107 with an ST* code and the following codes listed after it.
D15 - is a deluxe front/rear armrest
D33 - Left hand remote mirror
Y60 - convenience light group
Note: the Order Number is prefixed with E(00299). Didn't see that on the Freemont cars so maybe something special for Linden?
I looked up when Fisher Body Plant sequenced the build and it looks like an early production car. Anyway those are my thoughts.
The rest of the info I'll post on our group discussion later.

Ya know, I ALWAYS seem to have trouble with that specific part of this production thingy. You're right, I apologize and will fix my mistake ^^. One of these days, I will be able to ****** the pebble from your hand.....
So, since Friday/Sat were still work days at Fisher and the 20th is mid week, shall we agree on 08D?

Ah that would explain the E prefix before the order #
So it could also read
ST 34267 E 00149 BDY or ST 34267 BL 00149 BDY or ST 34267 E 149 BDY or ST 34267 BL 149 BDY
Confused yet

What about the paint? Sometimes Linden and other places used the WA code instead of the normal code.
Special Order Rallye Red
And sometime they used the DuPont paint code instead of the normal one.
Special Order Chevy Color Canary Yellow

So now I believe the WA code and DuPont code is used on special order paint tags from Linden and a few other assembly plants. So with that said going by the build sheet the cowl tag above would read as
ST 70 34267 E 149 BDY
TR 994 58 H PNT
08C A65
^ or 08D
ST 70 34267 E 149 BDY

08C A65

Um guys, I believe that besides deciphering the build sheet, he's looking for a place that can make a new cowltag from the info he has. I know of no such place, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The CT for the 70 442 Holiday coupe shows Red paint and a white vinyl top (code A) in the PNT section. Soooo, why is the C08 listed on the Cowl tag - it's the rpo for vinyl top..
On the 70 442 vert the code A31 (Power Windows) appears.
I think the closest interpretation is ST 70 34267 E 149 BDY. It matches Peter's car almost exactly
From the way this thread is evolving, I don't think there's any definite answer we can give the OP in terms of replacing his Cowl tag other than our own guesses at what's right based on comparisons.
Wouldn't it be nice to find the original had just fallen into the cowl and overlooked when the screen was placed back on?

Yep that was the first time I saw C08 on a tag personally. And the A31 on the other tag was a first for me as well except for the mid 60's versions.
As to the OP's tag I would venture to guess that my rendition on post #12 would be fairly close to accurate, being that as you pointed out several times the two blocks of six digits at the bottom may refer to a Special Order askew from standard protocol
