Height Of Hypocrisy
Height Of Hypocrisy
I debated with myself if I needed to post this or not but what the hell here goes. I responded to a for sale ad here and I thought I had the item bought after talking to the seller by phone. After many attempts to get the deal done I finally gave up. During the negotiations the seller stressed how they wanted the item to go to somebody who was going to use the item and not flip it. I told the seller that I had a friend who could really use the item. The seller said OK and I was the second person to contact him but beings I had a friend who needed the item and not to resell it that he would rather it be put to use. Now comes the good part, a thread popped up that I hadn't seen before with the seller of said item talking about how they had just bought the very item I was trying to buy from them. He had the part for two months before he flipped it. Guys, is the title of my thread correct or not? LOL. Seller of said item will go unnamed because I don't want to cause anyone any harm but I just thought this would be a great story to tell.
You're liquidating a part. That's all it is. That's all it should be. If you have the cash, you have final say whether you want to part with the cash. If you have the part, you get to decide to accept the monetary offer or not. It's just that simple, and it's been that way since the beginning of recorded time.
Anybody buying and selling parts deserves a profit. That is how capitalism works. If you think it is a fair price and you need the part, buy it. It is irrelevant what the seller paid for it. But then there are the ****** in this hobby. They have a part that is rare or they know you need and then they think they have you by the nads. I have no use for these folks and hope they have those parts when they die.
But, then you get an overinflated value on your car after watching one that's been flipped 6 times go across the auction block! Bonus!
I think the crux of the post is a guy who appears to claim he wants to see the part on an original car, like he really cares..then you find out he bought it to flip..nobody cares if you bought it to flip, just don’t tell a potential buyer how he would rather have you buy it as its actually going on a car.. then sells to someone else after the conversation..basically just a bullshit story to try to sell like he really cares what happens to it. The guy could have easily said, you are second in line, if this guy doesn’t buy it..why all the bullshit?
As far as the guys on here who have a problem with flippers..let me fill you in on a thing or two..most of you wouldn’t have a car or the parts to restore it if it wasn’t for guys spending lots of time chasing cars and parts, rarely being successful, being told stories and then finding out it’s junk, or not there at all. And you want them to do this work for free? For the love of the hobby so you can buy it for the same price they did without lifting a finger? Please share with me one business model that follows these principles. For many of us. The joy of the hunt is much fun as actually getting your hands on the part. However, when you get your hands on the part and you could make some money off of it for all your work, and somebody can put it to good use on a Classic Car than what’s the problem.? You should be thanking them.

AND.. find parts that you would never find cause you ain’t got the gumption or the time to go out and find them yourself . Why should they do it for free? Many parts wouldn’t even be available. If it wasn’t for these people finding parts Cars is taking them apart and selling parts. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it, if you think it’s too much offer a lower price if you don’t like any of those alternatives buy a repot, you don’t like that alternative and get into a different hobby
Couple of years back, we sold a house in Palm Springs. The buyer, in hopes of sealing the deal, sent us a wonderful letter complete with pictures of their happy (fictional?) family and promised that they would take good care of the place and hoped to live there for many years.
Within three months after the deal was done, my wife saw the place listed for sale with a fresh coat of white paint and some gaudy brass trim and no other changes ... for $300K more than we sold it for.
Who do we sue?

PS -- The house was up for sale for three months, so it's not as if we sold it too cheap for prevailing market conditions. Trust me, much research was done.

Interesting assumption that I am unable to find the parts I need on my own.
Parting cars is different from flipping.

Well, I sure as **** know what to tell you -- you're a smug self-important twit who is incapable of understanding the point of his own thread any further than trying to score points off legitimate posters.
Which is exactly what my post was about -- using duplicity to gain advantage in a transaction. Go back and read your own OP. Sheesh.

I didn’t try to answer it, gave you advice to your rhetorical qurstion whether you wanted it or not.. lol. I had a lot of real estate st one time. I always knew or thought I knew what the market was doing. Its always a gamble
I assumed nothing of the sort. I am sure you can find parts on your own, if ya can’t then buy them from someone who has them. And be prepared to pay what YOU think is fair. Its none of your business what they paid..
Sorry, I must have misunderstood the part where you said they find parts that I don't have the gumption or time to find..
I'm not happy with Alabama. They beat my Gamecocks this year. But it appears so is Illinois in the Citrus Bowl so far...
But don't cry about the hypocrites. They'll get theirs one day. May not be today, but one day.
