Heater Hose/Basic Engine Question (1968 Toronado 455)
Hey guys sorry for the beginner question here. So heater hose comes off the front of the engine and is routed along the left side of the engine to a valve at the rear of the engine (see attached pictures). When I got this car it had a valve there with a screw top and was closed off. I have removed AC/Heat from the car. Can I just plug this heater hose in with a new heater hose connector and let the coolant flow through?
Thanks.

From the factory the heater hose would go from the water pump to one port on the heater core nipple on the firewall; from the other heater hose nipple a hose would go to the heater valve on the passengers side rear of the intake manifold.
Since you have the heater core bypassed, your description of the hose from the water pump to the port on the rear of the intake manifold would be correct. Someone installed a manual valve, which should be OK since you have the heater core bypassed.

If you haven't ever had it hooked up I bet you have a leaky heater core or bad Ranco valve and the previous owner bypassed it all just to keep it going. Any coolant stains on the carpet?... Tedd
