Heater core advise

Here are pictures of my Harrison heater core. 71 442 with A/C. Was advised by a radiator shop that has been around here for quite while (if that means anything anymore) the the white areas indicate it had been leaking. The replacment units seem like cheap crap. My question for you guys is can't this be repaired and where do you suggest. I got a replacement unit from YO months ago and it seems as one of the tubes wiggles. Figure the sodier (sp?) has broke. (after the fenders are back on of course.) Would really like to keep the Harrison.
As always, thanks for the advise! Any experience with ClassicHeaters in Farmington?

I grew up with my Dad owning a radiator shop and the white is corrosion due to a leak, or imminent leak. It cannot be repaired with the old core. I have had to have a radiator shop install a new core and use the old tanks when I couldn't find a replacement core that would fit correctly like the old one. I have even had Napa and Oreilly ones that they said were correct and they were plastic and aluminum and would not fit. Since you have a new one that just seems to have a loose tube, I would have a radiator shop repair the loose tube and install it in your car.

Thanks so much for confirming and the advise. Now I have a plan thanks to you and your dad!

My core was the origininal Harrison and you are right - it is twice the weight of the new most-correct brass ones (Spectra Premium from rockauto).
If you opt to trash that core you have, I would buy it from you just to have the tubes.
The tube nipples on mine were crushed and deformed, the reson I had to replace it. I would like to have a rad shop replace the tubes so the original can be reused when the new one fails.

Rob- Ran across ClassicHeaters in Hemmings. Going to call tomorrow. They will replace the core and keep the tanks. Even have one alrerady to go in stock for my situation. $65-85. Beats the repo crap for the same amount. Will let you know. You are more than welcome to the old core if this works out. Check out the webb site and see what you think.
