Heat diagnostics

I couldn't figure out where to put this, you can move it if need be. I have done a search and I learned a lot on the heating system but still cant figure mine out.

1970 cutlass convertible with factory air. The previous owner just ripped off the compressor and cut the hoses.

Problem: the blower motor works, However I do not get heat inside the cabin. I have vacuum to the vacuum canister and vacuum after the canister. I have a brand new water control valve. Both hoses going to the core are extremely hot. The temperature door flapper the one with the cable on it is working. I think my problem is the vacuum door. I don't hear no movement when changing heat on and off.

So? since I only need heat a few times during the season. Is there a way to get the vacuum flapper door to move temporarily? or can some one give me a solution to getting it to work properly. I'm somewhat of a larger guy and crawling under the dash is a bit of work. I have felt up where all the vacuum hoses hook into the control module on the dash. They all seem to be there I even felt the ones coming into the firewall and they are also all attached. Thanks guys you have always helped me in the past.

Sounds like you may have to inspect the
vaccume lines under the dash for the
problems. The easiest way for a big boy
or older boy, is to remove the front seat.
A flashlight and a hopefully GOOD ear will
help you find the problem. It is always good to
study some on the chassis service manual beforehand.
Good luck with it.
