Headlight housing removal

Don't have car in front of me because it is at body shop. IF I want to go the extra step and take out the headlight housings to repaint, how much of a pain is it? For some reason mine are not black on the "back wall" part of the housing. Im thinking the guy that painted it 12 years ago sprayed the whole thing gray. I have new black bezels but like how the black looks on the other housings that I have seen. Thanks for the info as usual!

Other than the fact that the bumper has to come off (or at least be loosened and dropped down) it's not that difficult.

I have templates to block off the black area so you can spray the Dull Aluminum if you want to borrow them (you spray the black first). I'd just like to get them back when you're done.

I have gotten quite a few, i am almost definite thar you take them off from the back of the core support and the tabs come out of the stone shield. check around the perimeters for attachment points also.

There's no stone shield on a 68. It's connected to the core support on the top and back and the grill in the center. There are also two bolts on the fender side that bolt it to the fender filler. It helps to have the battery out and the radiator top plate off.
