Has this happened to anyone else?
Sometimes I wonder why I even try. I know something weird is going to get in the way.
I was finally assembling the 425, after numerous delays. It has A heads, so I kept the stock rocker studs, but I'm putting roller rockers on it. Just placing the rockers on the studs so I can check pushrod length, when I noticed four of the rockers didn't want to settle down into place. Not the rockers, swapping positions around didn't accomplish anything.
I pulled all the studs on that bank, and four of them - one from each cylinder - are slightly larger just above the head of the stud, where the rocker sits. Not much, about .010, but just enough so that the rockers will stick. All the other studs measure just about .492-.495, these four measure about .503.
It's enough to drive me crazy.
