Gone for the winter

Gone for the winter
Well, I put baby away for the winter. I know it's only October, but I'm in Canada, and I have a ragtop (that leaks a bit), so October is pretty much it. Only drove her a few times in the last month and a half.
On the immediate to do list:
1. that engine thump.
Oil's good, I'm hoping that it's just an exhaust manifold thing. Knock on wood. However, the 350 is going to have to come out some time- all the gaskets are overdue.
2. Front end.
Needs work bad. I may do that first...
3. Body work.
Those rear fenders are starting to look iffy.
4. New rag top.
Not a must-do; I rarely put it up. But mine is pretty ratty looking.
5. Stereo.
A guy I know once said that you don't need sound when you drive a late 60's car. All the sound you need is under the hood. Can't argue that, but I still want to "complete" the interior.
That's just the top of my list.
Isn't owning an old car fun!
Cheers!

That's a pretty long list for one winter. I would tackle the mechanical first. The front end then move on to the engine next.
I would save the body work until next year otherwise this turn into restore project. Which is ok, but I would want to drive it as much as I could. If it takes a couple of years to finish everything on the list that's fine.
Yes owning an Olds is fun.

Looking forward to a nice cruise this weekend.
Why not do that first then. I plan to do mine after the new year, so lets do it at the same time! I have the parts now, just want to wait until my cruising season ends.
Yep! You do not get any attention driving any new car (at least around here...)

I put mine away last weekend. It was 17C (about 65F). The next day it was 7C and right now it's -4C with snow on the ground. I haven't driven the car in over a month so it was overdue. Starting tomorrow it supposed to go up to 8C (mid 40's).
This winter I'm not just going to sit around. I'm gonna ski (there is a hill and cross-country trails close to where I live). Some friends have put away their Oldsmobiles and taken out their snow mobiles. I'd like to go to the National Parks in the Rockies but I will not waterfall climb. I leave that to the younger experienced people. But it is fun to watch people climbing the frozen waterfalls of Maligne Canyon.

That's just "my list" not "my list for this winter".
You're right tho, the mechanical isn't going to get any better by ignoring it...
Cheers,

Keith, did you get it away before the snow hit?
I parked my Delta on Friday, and was I ever glad I did when I woke up Saturday morning.
I am hoping that we get some good rain this week to be able to take the Cutlass for one last drive. But there is no way I will be putting an Arizona car anywhere near the piles of salt on the road today.

Darryl, when can I come? I am ready!!
Really, I want some more info on where you ride, where the pics are from, and where one can rent snowmobiles at.
Last time I did it was in northern Finland. LOTS of fun and beautiful, secluded, but FAR and costly! The air trip was the worst part.
Your pics indicate there are nice places nearby that are not total tourist traps like what is in Colorado. I want to know more...

Hey Rob, look up Tug Hill Plateau on Google and you should find some info. The Plateau is above Syracuse NY and stretches for quite aways. There are about 600 miles of trails up there. It goes over to Old forge NY and the Adirondack mtns! There is a whole trail system there as well. There are many places to stay and I'm sure that sleds can be rented. Hope this helps,
