Glove box outer plastic door

I know all perfectionist have had problems with alighing the glove box door with the dash. The dreaded 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap. I am trying to let mother nature do her thing. Removed the plastic outer door, clamped and added weight to it, and will let it sit in the sun. The door did move a bid, when clamped. Hopefully, the sun will do it's thing, with cooling and heating, and the door will remain in the correct position. 45 years of baking doesn't help. Has anyone try this????

Let us know how it works. Mine hangs out about an eighth inch on the inboard side. It used to bother me 25 years ago but I have learned to live with it. BTW that is a beautiful 69.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks Mike. That is typical for these plastic outer boxes. I will let all know of the experiment. Was sunny, 92, yesterday. Should be the same today. I'll release the clamp on the 3rd day. We'll see what happens.

Well, It didn't work. Maybe it needed to be out in the sun longer, but, I couldn't stand it. I had to try it after 2 days. Here are some pics...

Yep, that is just like mine except mine is blue. Mine is a Texas car so I am guessing the heat in its early days did it. My interior less the dash pad was also burned up.
Cheers, Mike
