Fuel pump vent line what to do

I have a 65 olds that I put a 68 455 in. My mechanical fuel pump went bad and I read some post about what was a good mechanical fuel pump to use. I ordered the Airtex pump (40736) and it has a vent on it. I have no return line on my 65 for a vent line what are my options for the vent on the fuel pump? Is there anyway to set it up or do I need a fuel pump without a vent?

Thanks for the info in advance

Just cap it off. No problem.

Just to be clear, that's not just a vent line to handle vapor. It's a bypass line that the pump pushes fuel through. So when you cap it off, make sure it's a tight connection that won't leak.

Or you could send it back and order one without a vent tube.

I pounded a lead ball with sealer in the end then I put a cap over it. I could have sent it back as suggested, however trying to get a stock number is difficult to say the least. When I use to work on cars a long time ago, you could go into a parts store and tell them what you wanted. They would go to a shelf and pick it. Now you need to be very specific and if it isn't in the book, your screwed. Maybe it's my fault for not familiarize myself more with what came with what car, like my 2004r, no clue what it came out of - but if I need a gasket and filter by god they can't get me one until I tell them a year, make and model. That's just my take on things, so when I research something on this web site, I see they used a 40736 Airtex fuel pump on a 455 and it works well - thats what I went after. Olds 455 high volume pump, thought great thats what I need, didn't think about the vent. Rookie mistake.
