Front speaker 101

Front speaker 101...I got the Retro 4x10 front speaker from Summit and dosen't fit the bracket that attaches it to the dash. So, I managed to get on my back and crawl up under the dash in my 62 Starfire donor car (not a pleasant journey) and look at the front speaker. Just as was in my 62 convertible a 6x9 speaker. What am I missing here.

Thank you, I radiused the ends of the speaker bracket and made some tabs to attach the speaker to the bracket and used the Retro 410n speaker.
