Picked up this poor thing today in Cincy. Has sat outside for many years unloved. Just got it home & will sort through what is left & it will be in the parts for sale section soon, just wanted to give a head up to anyone who might be interested. The hood is there but ROUGH, mirrors, floor shift column, 4 SS II's, boxed control arms, fenders might be usable, black buckets, console wiring, etc.....

Those darned trailers - Whenever they're following me, I just can't seem to shake 'em
(though I have come close a couple of times ).

How are those front fenders? and price on them.

Same as the core support and how ROUGH is the hood?

By any chance is the trunk lid good? If it is good, is it the one that is flat on the bottom or does it have the ring?

The body isn't in bad shape. I assume the worst is underneath?

Be strong, someone. A resurrection would be way more interesting than a come-apart. Besides, it's only money !!

Scott, I'd be interested in the boxed control arms. Good luck with the sale.

Eric,
The trunk lid is pretty beat up & probably unusable. I plan to get more pix today & I'll let you know about that & the rear bumper areas.

Ally,
Some one took an ax?? to the roof in a couple areas, but you're right, it isn't terrible &, on first look, the floor pans look to be ok.

Sicky,
I'll find out about the fenders, core support & hood & get back to you.

Chris,
I'll check them & let you know also.

Is it beyond restoration? Seems a shame to part it out.

Dent,
You & a couple others have me thinking now. I do have a clean title for it..... I'll check it out further & get plenty of pix & go from there. Needs lots of work, but it is a real Rallye 350.

I agree with Dave. There must be someone out there who would take on the challenge! (I've seen worse than that one brought back to life.)

But the thing with it is, honestly it would take too much money to restore it. non numbers matching, Rallye 350 would not fetch that much in this market... It might be a different story since he is the pack rat on being able to restore this one for cheaper... All depends on the interior as well. I say this because i am realizing on mine being restored is how many parts are actually 70 only parts....

Tom,
The trunk lid for a '70 is a little different than one for a '71-'72. Even though they are fully interchangeable between the years, the '70 version does not have a little ring, about 3-4" wide, on the frame or skeleton of the lid, whereas the '71-'72's do. Eric can add more to this as he recently discovered something weird about these trunk lids, but I can't remember what it was.
I took some pix today & will get them on here tonight if i can. I got a 4bbl '70 350 engine with this car & have several th350 trannys in stock, so it would not be that hard to put this car back together. But like you guys mentioned, it would take a lot of cash, probably $20,000.00+ to put this thing together & you would have a car worth about $20,000.00 tops.

I rest my case on having too many 70 only parts lol. I will have to check my lid and see if it is a 70 lid. Also Eric if you are looking for a 70 trunk lid i might be able to help you on that one, will have to check my buddies stock though.

Actually here's an idea, if I was you Scott I'd dump the one you have in the garage cheaply to get the funds to fix this one up, its the restoration that's fun, let some lazy guy like me enjoy the finished product sitting in your garage!

it was the trunk lid. Here is a thread on it. It looks like there were two differant ones in 70. I need a smooth one like the top picture. I want a perfect one. I have 3 perfect ones but two are like the last picture 71/72 and the other one is the red lid in the pic. My W-30 is an early build so i would guess it should be smooth.

Nice save Scott.
If you do end up parting it
I would like dibs on the rear
sway bar if available.

Walter,
The guy who sold me the car owns a flat bed & he dragged it part way on the truck, held by the winch cable, & then lowered the front onto the trailer, then used the rear edge of the flat bed to lift the rear frame & pushed it the rest of the way on the trailer. I had to chain the rear of the car to a tree & pulled the trailer out from under
it when I got home.

tru-blue,
Sway bar is gone, but boxed control arms are there along with a later year 10 bolt rear end.

I'd like to see more pics , still seams a shame to part it out. I realize they don't bring big bucks but there must be someone who would love to do a long term resto . Hell I'd like to have it , but I can't , so I'll just sit and sulk ,,

With the rear tires flat/off the rim, it's hard to see the control arms. Silly me should have taken more pix when it was on the flat bed, but i didn't want to chance getting crushed.
Ted,
You would have enjoyed it, I'm getting another '72 Supreme parts car later this week, come on down & help me with it?
Here are more pix.
More in the next reply.

Here is the link to the whole album with bigger pictures.
http://s856.photobucket.com/albums/a...0Rallye%20350/ The more I look at it, the more I think it could be saved. It is ugly, but a pretty solid car. I'll probably put it in the cars for sale thread. I have a few other parts laying around to make it a more complete car to restore.
