1972 Cutlass driver my way. Try not to pick it appart to bad Other than the engine assembly, I did it all myself. I have done some bodywork in the past, however, this was my first paint job.

Thanks! I've been driving it since July. Now that there is about 13" of snow on the ground, I had time to figure out how to post pic,s. I had a slideshow on photobucket ready to upload, but I couldn't figure it out. Thats why all the thumbnails.
No radio yet. Havn't needed one. And yes I still need to re-adjust the tailpipes after installing quieter mufflers! The color is 70 Nugget gold.
Started disassembly April of 08, and had her on the road July 4, 09. Thanks to ALOT of hours and all of the help I recieved on this board.

Your "gaps" on the doors are absolutely out'a'sight! That is extremely hard to do (from personal experience). You have to offer no apologies on your work!

The door gaps were quite alot of work as I had patch panels on the lower fenders and new quarters to install to say the least!
My wife could not understand why I would put it together and then take it apart over and over again! Especially when she saw me tweeking one with my knee!
I also had to shim the core support up a little.

Very nice job. What mufflers did you have on it that were too loud? I am asking cause I am changing mine to duels and I still have to decide on the mufflers.

Actually the stripes are satin black to match the grilles and wheels. I think its a reflection in the picture that shows a blue cast.
I had a magnaflow 2.5" system with the x pipe and 14" straight through mufflers. The sound of these with the x pipe was annoying to me on long cruises and the sound wasn't old school like I am used to. I don't need to gain 1 or maybe 2/10 in the quarter to need the x pipe.
I converted the Magnaflow system to true duals with Dynomax Super Hemi turbo mufflers. Quiet while cruising and loud when you step on it. It has a MUCH lower tone with a thump in it, and actually sounds like it has a big block in it now, unlike before when it sounded kind of ricey to me. (It is a 455). They are 20" long case mufflers.

Interesting that you ran the primary wire to the starter along the top of the engine and down the back behind the exhaust. I think I like it, it looks a little different at first glance but not a bad idea.

Yeah, I went back and forth on that one, but it keeps it well away from the headers.

That primary wire location is one of the ways Oldsmobile did it from the factory. That's where it runs on my 69 H/O. Looks sharp with the red running in that location.

I am looking at a straight back duel system but was considering resonators. The car is really long and heard resonators can help with the noise under the passenger compartments.

The paint is ppg omni 4 coats. I wanted to put Deltron on her with less coats to cover but the paint shop said it could not be mixed in Nugget Gold. The clear is Nason 497 3 coats, wet sanded and buffed. Not a frame off as the underside looked great and I only needed to clean and paint.
The hood is a glasstech from Tamraz. Doesn't fit to bad. Keep in mind, I replaced just about everything. Fender patch panels, lower cowl, new metal on upper cowl under glass, 1 small floor pan, outer wheel houses, quarters, wiring, brake lines, gas lines, disc brake conversion, bumpers, total engine build with Edelbrock heads and all new internals, rebuilt turbo 400 (Me), rebuilt 10 bolt 3.42 posi rear (Me), was a 2.56, new interior other than seats as they were already done, new brake cables, aluminum radiator, grilles, wheels, tires, shocks, springs, some chrome, and on and on.
14 months of evenings and weekends. I didn't work on it all the time, but my wife finally gave me a curfew of 9 pm. Oh well. About 15k including the car. No idea of exact hours, but it was ALOT! The only labor I paid was to the machine shop and engine builder. I've built chebies, but left the olds to a professional.
Still a few bugs but not bad. I'm sure someone noticed the cardboard under the steering box? Oh well, I have another to replace it with.

The engine is a 71. The only thing I re-used was the block and crank. Here goes.
71 block bored .030 over and de-burred.
Aline honed and decked.
Crank turned .010 under. Polished and drilled w/chamfer.
Ford 460 rear main seal.
Stock rods shot peened and polished w/arp fasteners.
High volume oil pump w/7qt morosso pan.
Oil passages smoothed.
speed pro 2323f 9.5-1 pistons (with the 77cc combustion chambers I have).
Cloyes tru roller timing chain,(not from across the pond!)
Lunati Voodoo 60803 268/276, 227/233, Lift 510/522, LS 110/106, 1600-5800 rpm.
Scorpion full roller rockers.
Edelbrock aluminum heads.
Edelbrock performer intake.
It now has a custom built, for my application, 800 cfm Quadrajet.
HEI ignition (Summit distributor).
1 3/4 headers.
Turbo 400 w/shift kit.
2.5" exhaust.
2400 stall convertor.
3.42 posi gears.
I run 17 degrees initial timing, 37 when all in.

A few might remember that I had a 750cfm Edelbrock carb on it originally that was terrible. I put on a holley 870 street avenger and really woke it up to say the least. But it was always rich cruising and I didn't want to mess with it. So, I had Mountain Man fuel systems build me a custom 800cfm quadrajet. Nice clean idle, great cruising manners, and it is actually better than the Holley at WOT. There's something to say for "Custom".
Anyways, she just flat out goes! All I need for the street. The guys over at ROP said easy 12's if I can get her to hook.

 

Did you ever consider a pinstripe to accent the body lines? I love mine!

 

That looks like a great paint job! Better than the one I got from a body shop. Mine is showing some bubbles at the bottom of the rear quarters so I took it back to the shop and they told me that it would cost 150 bucks to fix even though it's the shops fault.
