Feedback on wheel choice - Hurst or Wire Spinner
Appreciate feedback from fellow Oldsmobile fans on which wheels to use on my 67 442.
I am in the process of restoring a set of N93 Kelsey-Hayes magnesium style wheel discs for my '65 Starfire which came 3-blade vs. 2-blade wire wheels and spinners. The spinners and rims are in beautiful condition and I've been thinking of replacing my repop Hurst Rims, currently on the 442, with the spinners--they'd be correct and I think would look very elegant. The Hurst rims are beautiful but are a bit "over the top" for my taste.
I've included some pictures--appreciate feedback!

For me it would be a pretty easy choice. I would never consider putting hubcaps on a 442. I agree that the Hurst rims are not 'proper' for your '67 either, but I would choose them over the spinners.

Kurt, the correct wires for '67 are the "no bar" centers. The wire wheel covers are the same '64-'67 except for the centers. '64 and '65 are "2 bar" with different emblem centers, '66 is "3 bar", and '67 is "no bar".

I would stick with the Hurst repops. The Hurst wheel has been my favorite aftermarket wheel since my teenage years.
Were you able the install the trim rings on your repop Hurst wheels without scratching the spokes of the wheel?
If so,can you offer any advice, tips or hints how it was done?
I've tried installing my trim rings but cannot without scratching the spokes so my wheels have not been installed yet.
Thank You

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I appreciate it. I do like the Hurst rims, even if they're re-pop. The quality is quite good, prices on OEM Hurst rims have risen to "out of my league" levels...I've also heard horror stories about mix 'n match sets that are restored to varying levels of quality and subtle differences in tooling (inter-year/inter-model?) that can lead to drivability issues. The only thing I want resonating are my tail pipes :-) All the best.

You should definitely put the steel wheels & spinner caps back on. This will free up those horrible Hurst wheel which you could then sell to me cheap
In all seriousness there is only one answer here....the Hurst wheels.
